For over 25 years, SONIC’s company-wide training program — the DR PEPPER SONIC GAMES — has helped drive-ins across the country deliver operational excellence and the best guest experience possible. But this year, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, SONIC has shifted the way it crowns medalists in its foundational training program.

(KWCH) - Today Shane is out at the Sonic Drive-In at 8612 W. The team at this particular Sonic is in the top 12 across the country in something called the Dr. Pepper Sonic Games. After months of accruing points through a variety of team challenges, digital training modules, quizzes and learning activities, the field has been narrowed to a ‘Final 12.’ In years past, team members from those 12 drive-ins would fly to the SONIC Convention to compete in the final round of the Games. But this year, SONIC judges are traveling 5,000 miles across the U.S. over the next 12 days to narrow down the winner of the 2020 DR PEPPER SONIC GAMES.

The top three individual team members who fulfill their respective roles in the competition, as well as the overall drive-in, will be recognized with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded later this fall.
